Happy Samhain folks!
This traditional holiday – also called Halloween – is known as the witches new year. It is a very special time of year when the veil between the two worlds is at its thinnest. Also my favourite time of year.
A new way I’ve started to celebrate Halloween is to have the front room brightly lit with lots of candles. There is some sort of symbolism to this – a light to guide the spirits of the dead or something like that. This year I decided also to get a few Samhain candles and also a witches cauldron – it is actually a really nice cauldron – a good decoration. All of this enhances the spiritual atmosphere. I keep the Halloween theme going with all my favourite ghost hunting shows – Ghosts Next Door is a new one that I’m really impressed with, it is genuine mediumship in my opinion.
One thing that has made my Samhain is that the rain from Storm Aidan has cleared and the full moon is visible. It really enhances the spiritual energy. Perfect time for the witches new year. It is supposed to be a blue moon as well with some significance.
I can be a witch without following a specific path like Wicca. It’s fascinating to learn about the spiritual signs of being a witch. I also value the Wiccan Rede “An ye harm none, do as ye will”.
Those who know me will know that I like a few pints of cider so it is very appropriate for Samhain traditions.
Happy friggin Halloween everyone! Stay spooky!
